Everton are likely to be pushing for a new goalkeeper this summer, with Marcel Brands facing big decisions.
The Toffees currently have Robin Olsen on loan from Roma, but it’s unclear whether or not Everton will look to bring him back for next season.
A number of other goalkeepers have been linked as Brands seeks a stopper to challenge Jordan Pickford next season, with Rui Silva one of them.
Reports from Estadio Deportivo in January suggested that Everton had picked out Silva as a prime target for the summer with his contract running down.
Available for free this summer, Silva won the Ricardo Zamora Trophy in 2019, given to the goalkeeper with the lowest ‘goals-to-games’ ratio.
The 27-year-old has spent the last four years with Granada, but he will now be leaving as a free agent.
Granada have today confirmed that Silva leaving, thanking him for his service, his performances in the Europa League and his Zamora Trophy win whilst suggesting that his legend at Granada will live on.
It looks like Everton will miss out though, as Diario de Sevilla claim that Silva is close to signing a five-year deal with Real Betis instead.
That would see him stay in Spain whilst leaving Everton go back to the drawing board, missing out on a potential bargain if Betis close the deal.
