Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts has claimed on Twitter that Everton’s Ross Barkley is “perfect” for his former club.
Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for the 23-year-old midfielder but have so far failed in their attempts to sign him.
Everton have dropped their asking price from £50 million to £35 million but, according to The Mirror, Tottenham are still reluctant to pay that sum for the England international.
Should a transfer materialise, Mauricio Pochettino, who already has Victor Wanyama, Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele, Harry Winks and Dele Alli, would surely boast the best midfield options in the Premier League, if he doesn’t already.
And Roberts was asked on Twitter where the Toffees academy product might fit into Pochettino’s side.
Tottenham are the only Premier League side yet to sign anyone this summer and fans are getting frustrated over the lack of activity.
Pochettino’s troops visit the North East this weekend for a Premier League opener at newly-promoted Newcastle United.
