Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts has made his feelings very clear about the reported prospect of Liverpool playing a friendly – not involving Spurs – at the club’s new stadium in the summer.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Merseyside club is in talks about playing a money-spinning pre-season friendly in London this summer, with Serie A side Napoli likely to provide the opposition.

The report adds that the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is one of a number of venues in the capital which is under consideration for the game, which will reportedly take place in late July.

Liverpool’s pitch apparently will not be ready until August as Anfield is hosting three major concerts in the summer, and the ground staff won’t get to work relaying the playing surface until late June rather than mid-May, continued the report.

Roberts, who starred for Tottenham in the 1980s, responded to a Twitter post by Spurs podcaster Ricky Sacks which shared a link to the story:

Some Lilywhites fans very much echoed his sentiments:

Spurs and Liverpool are both in the semi-finals of the Champions League as well as having tussled for the Premier League title earlier in the season along with Manchester City.
