Graham Roberts suggests Tottenham Hotspur should sign the West Bromwich Albion star.

How Tottenham Hotspur handle this Harry Kane-related crisis depends solely on what the club does from now until February 1.

If they rely on Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente to replace the injured Tottenham hitman then maybe it’s best to just call it a day on Spurs’ season now and prepare for 2019-20.

Then again, if the North Londoners sign a very decent short-term replacement for Kane then who knows, maybe Mauricio Pochettino can use that striker to salvage something positive yet.

But it comes down to what the club do – or don’t do – for the rest of the transfer window.

There may not be a Tottenham fan on planet earth who wants Pochettino to use Janssen or Llorente, who have three Premier League goals between them in 50 games.

There’s bound to be quite a lot of big-name players linked to North London from now until the end of the month, but club legend Graham Roberts has a more realistic option: Jay Rodriguez.

The England international, who joined West Brom for £12 million last summer [BBC Sport], played with Pochettino at Southampton and called him ‘unbelievable’ in 2014 [Sky Sports].

And Roberts says on Twitter that he wouldn’t mind the former Saint being signed.

The 29-year-old hit 15 Premier League goals for Southampton under Pochettino during the 2013-14 campaign. He is probably a better option than Llorente or Janssen, but is he good enough to fill the void left by Kane over the next two months? Potentially not.

This season Rodiguez has 13 Championship goals for promotion-chasing West Brom, who wouldn’t let him leave for cheap.
