The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.

Graham Roberts has urged Eric Dier to make Jose Mourinho eat his words when Tottenham Hotspur visit Manchester United on Saturday lunchtime.
Mourinho, the Manchester United manager, claimed at his pre-match press conference on Friday that despite being linked with a £50 million for Dier during the summer transfer window, eventual recruit Nemanja Matic was always his preferred target.

“I have the player that I want to have,” the Portuguese said, as quoted by the Telegraph. “I probably have the player I didn’t think it was possible to have, but we got the player I really wanted.”
And it appears Mourinho’s comments have not been well received by the former Tottenham defender Roberts, who referred to the 54-year-old as a ‘motor mouth’ in a Twitter message to Dier afterwards.
“Motor mouth Jose at it again can see why so many fall out with him now,” he wrote.
“So happy we have the class of Poch [Mauricio Pochettino, the Tottenham head coach] go show jose @ericdier“.
Tottenham will climb above Manchester United into second in the Premier League with a win at Old Trafford, a feat they have achieved just once in 28 years.
And their task is made all the more difficult by the absence of top scorer Harry Kane, who joins midfield duo Erik Lamela and Victor Wanyama on the sidelines.
