Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts has taken to Twitter to send a message to playmaker Christian Eriksen after he signed a new contract.

Eriksen, 24, has hit 30 goals in 137 games for Spurs since signing from Ajax back in the summer of 2013, where he had established himself as one of the top young players in European football.

The Danish international has certainly lived up to his billing, having made himself a key player at White Hart Lane under Mauricio Pochettino as well as former managers Tim Sherwood and Andre Villas-Boas.

A superb playmaker who creates plenty of chances, Eriksen has also found the net regularly for a midfielder, and has particularly impressed with his pinpoint accuracy from set pieces since his arrival in North London.

Having entered the final two years of his contract at White Hart Lane, fans have been keen to see Eriksen pen a new contract – and he’s done just that today, signing a new four-year contract believed to be worth £75,000-a-week (London Evening Standard).

Despite a disappointing start to the new season for Eriksen, who has failed to make much of an impact in Tottenham’s first three games of the campaign, Tottenham fans are happy to see him extend his stay with the club – and Graham Roberts feels a similar way.

Spurs legend Roberts, who played more than 200 games for the club during the 1980’s, took to Twitter earlier today to send a message to Eriksen after penning his new deal.

Roberts congratulated Eriksen on his contract extension, and wished him – and the club – the best for the season, where Spurs will again be hoping to challenge for the Premier League title.
