Graham Roberts has admitted his affection for exiled Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli, claiming that his team-mates don’t pass to him often enough on the rare occasions when he plays a game.
The 24-year-old is heavily linked with a move away from Spurs this month, amid speculation about Mauricio Pochettino wanting him at Paris Saint-Germain.
Jose Mourinho has been Tottenham boss for over a year but Alli’s form has progressively declined since the Portuguese took over from Pochettino in 2019.
The England international, who played his best football under the Argentine, has only been given 75 minutes of Premier League football this season by Mourinho.
But Lilywhites legend Roberts has admitted that he’s a big fan of Alli and believes that he’s one of the best ball-playing footballers in the squad.
He told Spurs Web on YouTube: “Dele Alli I love. If I could play in midfield with him he’d have so much of the ball. I’d keep giving it to him. That’s what I don’t think the players do. When he does play, the players don’t give him the ball enough because he loves having the football.”
According to Football London, there’s people at Tottenham who think Alli could do a Tanguy Ndombele.
The French midfielder was nowhere to be seen under Mourinho toward the end of last season and an early exit seemed very much on the cards.
But this time around, Ndombele is one of Spurs’ best players and there is a reasonable expectation that Alli could potentially come good again.
