Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-0 win over Brighton at Wembley on Wednesday night saw the north Londoners re-enter the top four of the Premier League, and Spurs icon Graham Roberts has ridiculed claims that his old side struggle at Wembley.

Since their move to the home of English football at the start of the season, Spurs have been questioned over their home form after losing to Chelsea in their first game as well as drawing against Burnley, Watford and Swansea.

However, Spurs have now won five Premier League matches at home, following two quick-fire wins at Wembley against Stoke City and Chris Hughton’s Brighton, taking them above Liverpool and Arsenal who were both halted to 0-0 draws.

Former Spurs defender Roberts claimed on Twitter that the media are not criticising Mauricio Pochettino side’s home form anymore, and reckons Tottenham will be “nice and ready for our new stadium next season.”

Tottenham do not play at Wembley again until December 26, as they travel to the Etihad on Sunday to face Manchester City before facing high-flyers Burnley at Turf Moor.

They will be looking to end City’s unbeaten run, which has seen Pep Guardiola’s side win 15 matches on the trot with 18 points separating the two sides.

Spurs earned all three points against Brighton thanks to goals from Serge Aurier and Son Heung-Min, with bot rather fortuitous as Aurier scored an overhit cross while Son’s header took a deflection before reaching the net.
