Former Tottenham star says bringing Gareth Bale back to Tottenham Hotspur may not be good business.
Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Graham Roberts has responded to Ian Wright’s suggestion the club should bring back Gareth Bale.
Speculation has mounted over Bale’s future at Real Madrid this week, and Wright told BBC Sport that he believes Tottenham should pull out all the stops to bring him back.
Roberts was quizzed about Wright’s comments and responded by saying that while he would love to see Bale back at the club, he said that he does not consider that a move would be smart business.
Bale has been at Real Madrid since 2013 and has won three Champions League titles and one La Liga medal.
This past season was his most disappointing on an individual level, scoring fewer goals and struggling with injuries.
He did start in last night’s UEFA Super Cup win over Manchester United, hitting the bar in the 2-1 victory.
Tottenham have an option which runs until 2019 which gives them 72 hours to match any offer Real Madrid accept from a Premier League club.
