The ex-Tottenham Hotspur man has responded to a tweet made by Newcastle United icon Alan Shearer.
In addition to Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham Hotspur also appear to have drawn the short straw in regards to this season’s Champions League group stages.
Along with APOEL, Tottenham were paired with both European giants in Group H – arguably the toughest group in the latest edition of Europe’s elite tournament.
Some fans are delighted to have drawn such heavyweights, while others, for obvious reasons, would have liked an easier passage into the last 16 of the competition.
What all Spurs fans can agree on, however, is the fact that there is the potential for some cracking Champions League games this season as Mauricio Pochettino’s look to improve on their Wembley showings of last season.
The Lilywhites lost to Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen at the national stadium last time around en route to a group-stage exit.
And Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer joked on Twitter before the draw that Tottenham would be happy if they had six away games.
It was a playful comment by the Magpies icon, but former Spurs man Graham Roberts didn’t appear to see the funny side, evident by his response about Newcastle.
Zinedine Zidane’s Real are surely the team to beat again this time around.
Los Blancos became the first team to successfully defend the title in the Champions League era back in May by thumping Juventus and it is fascinating to see how Pochettino’s charges fare in such big tests.
