Graham Roberts reacts on Twitter to Toby Alderweireld reports, blames Jose Mourinho

Tottenham club legend suggests Manchester United boss is behind attempts to unsettle star.

Tottenham Hotspur club legend Graham Roberts has given his view on the Toby Alderweireld transfer rumours.

Alderweireld is linked with an exit from Spurs, with The Times reporting last month that the North London club are prepared to cash in on him this summer.

The Belgian is reportedly in dispute over wanting a wage increase and is unwilling to extend his contract unless his demand to become the club’s highest earner are met.

Former Spurs star Graham Roberts has given his view, and believes that speculation is being orchestrated by Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.

Roberts’ take on Mourinho does not necessarily add up, considering the rumours began before the clubs were drawn together in the FA Cup semi-finals.

The latest reports linking Alderweireld away from the club stem from Belgian website HLN, which would seem like a peculiar choice for Mourinho use to fuel rumours as opposed to a UK publication.

The United manager too has his own worries to focus on, with regard to underperformers Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw.
