It was the sight no Tottenham Hotspur fan wanted to see, star striker Harry Kane taken off the pitch on a stretcher.

While merely precautionary rather than an indicator of a serious injury, Kane could still miss time after sustaining an ankle knock during the club’s 1-0 win over Sunderland.

Kane had scored the winning goal, his second strike of the campaign, and the reigning Golden Boot winner will be hoping to make a swift recovery.

Former Spurs star Graham Roberts does not believe Kane will be out for too long, and cites the striker’s determined nature as key in helping him overcome the injury.

Roberts also reserved praise for two of Kane’s teammates, Kyle Walker and Heung-Min Son, who he felt stood out in Sunday’s victory.

Walker was immaculate defensively during the win, leading the back four with three tackles made, while completing 90 per cent of his passes.

Son was playing on the left of midfield and was a constant thorn for Sunderland, attempting seven shots, two of which were on target, and created an impressive five chances during the match – a figure matched only by Harry Kane.
