Graham Roberts reacts as Danny Rose hints at wanting Spurs stay

Danny Rose has suggested that he is looking forward to pre-season and battling to be Tottenham Hotspur’s first-choice left-back.

Graham Roberts has taken to Twitter to react to comments that Danny Rose made to The Telegraph where he seemed to hint that he plans to remain with Tottenham during this summer.

It has been a difficult season for Rose, with just 10 Premier League appearances under his belt and plenty of speculation surrounding his future to deal with. The Daily Mirror recently reported that Spurs even plan to consider offers for the 27-year-old during the summer.

However, Rose has seemingly quashed speculation on his future as much as any player can by insisting that he is looking forward to resuming the battle with Ben Davies for the left-back spot in Spurs’ side next term.

“I am here and I am looking forward to coming back to pre-season and hopefully me and Ben [Davies] can start fresh and fight for the No 1 position,” he said, as reported by The Telegraph.

Rose’s comments have gone down extremely well with former Tottenham defender Roberts, who took to social media to suggest that the England international staying would be a big boost for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Though the former Leeds trainee has not exactly been able to show his best form this term, it would undoubtedly be an excellent outcome if Pochettino could keep him in the ranks and could help him get back to his best.

Davies has performed well this season, but, as Roberts suggests, Rose has the potential to reach another level when he is on form, and replacing him would have been an extremely tough ask had he ended up moving away this summer. It is, of course, still possible that he may leave, but it surely now appears to be significantly less likely.
