The former Tottenham defender was impressed with how the ex-Celtic and Southampton star played against Premier League rivals City in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
Spurs got the better of the Citizens 4-3 away from home at the Etihad Stadium in the second leg of their quarter-final tie to progress to the semi-finals of Europe’s premier club competition on away goals’ rule, after the tie finished 4-4 on aggregate.
Wanyama started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, and Roberts was pleased with the performance of the Kenya international defensive midfielder, whose importance in the team in the middle of the park against City cannot be understated.
