Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen played well against Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League at the weekend.

Graham Roberts has praised Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen on social networking site Twitter.
Although the former Tottenham defender has admitted that Spurs did not play well against Southampton at the weekend, the 58-year-old has spoken highly of Belgium international centre-back Vertonghen.
Spurs failed to win against the Saints away form home at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Roberts was following the match, and he has praised 30-year-old Tottenham defender Vertonghen, who has been on the books of the North London club since the summer of 2012 when he joined from Ajax for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £10 million when Andre Villas-Boas was in charge of Spurs.

The performance of Tottenham against Southampton was disappointing, and Spurs fans must be frustrated.
However, such results are normal enough, especially with the game being played at St. Mary’s Stadium and the Saints struggling for survival in the Premier League.
