Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts has told The Mirror that he thinks it will be up to four years before Arsenal manage to finish above Spurs again.
Spurs head into Saturday’s home game with Bournemouth having won each of their last six Premier League games, and last weekend’s 4-0 win over Watford means it’s 11 home victories in a row for Mauricio Pochettino.
Tottenham still lie seven points shy of league leaders Chelsea, but with Harry Kane now back from injury, they will be hoping to push the Blues all the way in the race for the Premier League title.
Conversely, Arsenal are enduring a nightmare right now, and their misery was compounded with an embarrassing 3-0 defeat away at Crystal Palace on Monday night.
The Gunners have now lost five of their last eight Premier League games, picking up just seven points from a possible 24, leaving Arsene Wenger’s men seven points adrift of the Champions League places.
Wenger is under huge pressure, and with Arsenal a whopping 14 points behind Tottenham, it seems that St. Totteringham’s Day – the day in which Arsenal fans can celebrate finishing above their North London rivals – will be cancelled this year, with Spurs surely set to finish above Arsenal for the first time since 1995.

Now, Tottenham legend Graham Roberts has told The Mirror that he thinks Tottenham’s superiority over Arsenal could last some time, claiming that the Gunners won’t finish above Spurs for up to four years.
Roberts believes that chairman Daniel Levy and manager Pochettino will help Spurs grow and grow, whereas Arsenal are ‘more interested in making money’, and begged the Gunners to keep under-fire boss Wenger as Spurs look to bypass Arsenal in the Premier League standings.
“I think it is going to take three or four years now before they get anywhere near to finishing above us again. One hundred per cent,” said Roberts. “Our manager and our chairman (Daniel Levy) will improve the squad every year. They won’t be like Arsenal and buy mediocre midfielders and centre-halves. Our chairman has also tied down our players for five more years on contracts. Everyone can see how well the club is being run.”
“I’m not crying for them, put it that way. I think it has been coming for years. What I want to say to them is: Please let Arsene Wenger stay. It would be fantastic if he stays. It looks like they are more interested in making money for Stan Kroenke and the men upstairs than they are in looking after their team. They’ve known what they have needed for years. It’s not for me to tell them. But they just don’t do it. So they can keep on doing what they are doing, that’s what I say,” he added.
