Graham Roberts has slammed Tottenham Hotspur’s Serge Aurier for continuously giving free-kicks away against West Ham United.
Spurs threw away a three-goal lead in the last 10 minutes against West Ham yesterday, as their ill disciplined defending cost them.
Aurier was guilty of giving away the decisive free-kick late on, when he gave away a set piece deep inside the Tottenham half with a needless foul.
And Roberts believes Spurs were always going to be in trouble with Aurier making so many poor decisions defensively.
Aurier was given the nod to start ahead of Matt Doherty yesterday on the back of his excellent showing against Manchester United.
At Old Trafford, Aurier had proven a massive attacking threat, while staying reliable at the back.
However, his rash defending cost Spurs again on Sunday – and it may be that Jose Mourinho opts to put Matt Doherty back at right-back now.
Spurs are next in action on Thursday, when they take on LASK in the Europa League.
