Former Tottenham Hotspur and Rangers defender Graham Roberts has stated on social networking site Twitter that he would not be surprised if Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez takes the Everton managerial job.

Everton are looking for a new manager following the departure of Ronald Koeman.

Benitez is doing well at Newcastle at the moment, and there is a very good chance that the Spaniard could guide the Magpies to a top-10 finish in the Premier League this season.

According to odds on Sky Bet, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss is 20/1 to become Everton’s next permanent manager.

Former Tottenham and Chelsea defender Roberts has stated on Twitter that he would not be surprised if Benitez goes to Everton as his family live in Liverpool.

Benitez was in charge of Liverpool from 2004 until 2010 and guided the Reds to the Champions League title in 2005.

The Spaniard is still very popular among the Liverpool fans and is a legend at Anfield.

It is hard to envisage Benitez taking the managerial role at Everton and upsetting the Liverpool fans.
