Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Graham Roberts has urged Gareth Bale to quit Real Madrid and return to the club.

Bale has won three Champions League titles since leaving Spurs in 2013, and Roberts believes the Welshman has no more to achieve at the club after also winning his first La Liga title last season.

Tottenham have yet to sign any attacking players this summer and time is fast running out before the transfer deadline passes tomorrow.

Re-signing Bale at this point is surely over ambitious, but like most Tottenham fans, Roberts would love to see it happen.

Bale will have a chance to ‘return’ to Spurs this Autumn when he takes on the club in the Champions League.

It won’t quite be the same for him as Tottenham will be playing at Wembley, but it will be a great chance for him to re-acquaint himself with his former side.

One advantage of Spurs not spending big this summer is that they could have extra money to spend in a year’s time when they move into their new stadium, and make Bale their marquee addition. That would be worth the wait.
