Graham Roberts claims the Arsenal man is not as good as Tottenham Hotspur’s big Belgian.

Arsenal's Laurent Koscielny celebrates at full time

Graham Roberts has claimed on Twitter that he rates Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld and Southampton’s Virgil Van Dijk higher than Arsenal centre-back Laurent Koscielny.

The Tottenham man has established himself as one of the finest centre-halves in the Premier League in recent years, while Van Dijk enjoyed a superb first season with the Saints last term following a move from Scottish giants Celtic.

Likewise, the Arsenal stalwart has been a fine addition to the Gunners since joining the North Londoners back in 2010.

But Matt Le Tissier claimed on Sky Sports that he rated the Dutchman and Alderweireld higher than the their French counterpart, prompting one Twitter user to disagree.

However, Roberts, who spent six years at Tottenham until 1986, agrees with Le Tissier, claiming he likes Koscielny but states that the other two are a class above.

One thing Alderweireld certainly has over Koscielny is consistency.

He has been immense for the most part this season, but Arsenal fans might agree to the idea that the 31-year-old does have a mistake or two in him – and not many Spurs supporters can say the same about their Belgian.
