Both Everton and Sunderland have entered the international break without having appointed a new permanent manager after sacking Ronald Koeman and Simon Grayson respectively.
They are not the first in England’s top two tiers to have already pulled the trigger this season, with Crystal Palace, Birmingham City and Leicester City all having changed bosses since the start of the 2017/18 campaign.

Yet the Toffees and the Black Cats remain the only two in the Premier League and Championship with vacancies and just as West Ham United have recently appointed David Moyes, many of the names being linked with both are very familiar to English football fans.
However, would either club perhaps benefit from taking a more leftfield approach and looking to appoint a manager who on the continent has been greatly impressing? Someone like Graham Potter, for example.

Guardian football journalist Nick Ames wrote a piece on Wednesday (November 8) highlighting the achievements of Potter; who during seven years with Swedish side Ostersund has won three promotions, taking them to the top flight for the first time in their history, and then secured Europa League qualification with the team currently topping their group ahead of Zorya Luhansk, Athletic Bilbao and Hertha Berlin.
Despite all this the 42 year old is not even among the conversation for vacant positions back in his native England and the same old faces keeping popping up. Perhaps he should be.
