Dan James made his return after failing to secure a deadline day move to Leeds United.
Graham Potter has told Swansea’s official website that he was incredibly proud of Dan James’ performance as the winger made his return to the Swans’ lineup for the first time since failing to secure a deadline day move to Leeds.
James missed the clash with Bristol City earlier in the month as he came to terms with how the final hours of the January transfer window played out.
Swansea report on their official website that the two Championship sides could not agree terms, but the Yorkshire Evening Post suggested that the Swans stopped taking calls from Leeds after previously agreeing terms.
James came back into the starting lineup for Saturday’s clash with Millwall. And after helping the side to a 1-0 win, Potter lauded the way that the 21-year-old performed.
“It was a Dan James performance, which is one of incredible effort,” he told the club’s official website. “He was explosive at times, he got the crowd on their feet. He gets hit and gets back up, he gets hit and gets back up, and worked to do his best for the team.
“It was a fully committed performance and I was really proud of him.”
Interestingly, Swansea’s next game sees Potter’s men travel to Elland Road to face Marcelo Bielsa’s side on Wednesday.
It is bound to be a unique experience for James given that many would have expected him to be playing for Leeds by the time this fixture came about.
And many Leeds fans may well fear that James could be about to make the kind of impact that highlights exactly why Bielsa wanted to add him to his squad last month.
