Graham Potter has praised the ‘incredible’ Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane and claimed that the Englishman is amongst ‘the best’ in Europe.

Spurs will travel to the Amex Stadium on Saturday to take on Brighton and Hove Albion, where they will be looking to bounce back from that humiliating defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Potter’s side have made an indifferent start to the Premier League season, but he will be hoping his side can capitalise on Tottenham’s recent capitulation.

Ahead of the game, Potter spoke in awe of Kane’s qualities, not just on the field of play, but he described him as a ‘role model’ off the pitch as well.

“[Kane is] the perfect role model on and off the pitch,” Potter told Sky Sports. “His development has been incredible and he’s up there with the best strikers in European football and captain of his country.

“That resilience as well to keep going and believe in himself. People always focus on the success with these top players, but there’s always setbacks on the way and moments they have to get through – so credit to him.”

Spurs supporters will be looking towards their main man up top to get them out of the current mess they find themselves in because things can still get a lot worse.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have suffered a number of costly defeats already this season – from losing to struggling Newcastle, getting knocked out of the EFL Cup by fourth-tier side Colchester United to that defeat on Tuesday night.

Three points, a strong performance and a much-needed clean sheet will lift the mood around Spurs, who have the chance to move into the top-four if they can clinch a win during the early game at the weekend.
