Leeds United are being linked with a move for Swansea City winger Daniel James.
Swansea City boss Graham Potter has told Wales Online that there is no update on the future of winger Daniel James amid links to Leeds United.
The Swans beat Gillingham 4-1 in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon, advancing into the fifth round of the competition in the process.
Oliver McBurnie grabbed a brace in the win, whilst winger James got a 21 minute cameo as a substitute for Courtney Baker-Richardson in the second half.
James, 21, has emerged as a first-team regular for Swansea this season, notching a goal and four assists in 17 Championship outings.
The Welsh wide man has dazzled with his pace, and is unsurprisingly attracting interest based off his performances at the Liberty Stadium this season.
The Yorkshire Evening Post recently reported that Leeds United are keen to sign James, having identified him as a player who could cause a real impact out wide for Marcelo Bielsa.
However, a report from The Sun on Sunday (27/1; page 63) claims that Swansea want £12million for James in order to let him go before Thursday’s transfer deadline, which may just put off Leeds.
Now, Swans boss Potter has suggested that there is no update on James’ future, and joked that Leeds may have been cutting their spying budget in order to afford a deal for James.
“No there isn’t. It’s why I don’t like to talk about players we’re linked with,” said Potter. “You’re not where the source has come from. I haven’t heard anything. Maybe Leeds have saved themselves some money by trimming the spy budget!” he added.
