Graham Potter will be hoping his Brighton and Hove Albion side can pile more misery on Tottenham Hotspur when the duo meet for a Premier League clash at the weekend.
Graham Potter has claimed that Tottenham could have been 3-0 up against Bayern Munich on Tuesday if they been as ‘clinical’ as their opponents as he defended their performance on the night.
Despite defending Spurs’ European performance, Potter will be hoping his Brighton side can secure all three points against a deflated Tottenham at the weekend.
The Englishman, who moved to the Amex Stadium from Championship side Swansea City in the summer, will be hoping his team can prove their worth against what is a top-quality side on their day.
Ahead of that game, Potter told his pre-match press conference, as quoted by Football London and Brighton’s official Twitter account, that Spurs were just seemingly unlucky on the night and things could have been a lot different.
“We know we have to play well this weekend,” Potter told his pre-match press conference. “I was at their game with Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
“They were impressive early on before their opposition were clinical, that can happen with that level of quality – but If they were as clinical as Bayern they could have been 3-0 up in the game.”
It may seem from Brighton’s perspective that this is a great time to play Tottenham, but from another perspective that may not be the case.
Now that Spurs have been on the end of a battering, they will be even more determined not just to win, but also keep a clean sheet at any cost.
Added with that, Pochettino might completely change around his tactical set-up and the personnel within it, so the tactics and players Potter watched on Tuesday, might be a lot different by Saturday lunchtime.
