Glasgow Rangers announced on the final day of the transfer window that Graham Dorrans had left Ibrox.

Despite Graham Dorrans’ nightmare spell at Rangers, it appears that the midfielder has got plenty of options on the table following the news that he has been released from his contract at Ibrox.
The Rangers fans were, understandably, incredibly excited when it was announced that Dorrans was joining the club. But injuries plagued his time with the Gers, and Steven Gerrard’s business in the summer all but confirmed that he was completely out of the picture before his release was announced.
The Daily Record has reported that a number of English sides are interested in the 32-year-old, including Portsmouth.
Rangers supporters will be wishing the midfielder well, but perhaps they may have reason to hope that he does not end up at Fratton Park, and instead joins Bolton Wanderers or Fleetwood Town.
Pompey signed Ross McCrorie from the Gers on loan earlier in the summer. It was a deal that surprised plenty of Rangers supporters, with many feeling that he should have had an important role in Gerrard’s plans this term.
The amount of midfield depth at Ibrox following the closure of the window makes the decision to loan McCrorie out look a lot more understandable, especially as he has featured regularly for Kenny Jackett’s men since heading to League One.

However, Dorrans’ arrival may perhaps provide a slight setback to the youngster. McCrorie has predominantly been used at right-back since joining Pompey and has only just got a chance in the middle of the park.
If Dorrans joins, it may end up proving to be tougher for McCrorie to secure a regular spot in midfield, especially as he has impressed at full-back.

Gerrard may be pleased to see that McCrorie is becoming even more versatile, but it is surely only by becoming a key man in Portsmouth’s midfield that the 21-year-old is going to prove a real point to the Rangers boss ahead of his return to Ibrox.
There is a real sense of frustration surrounding Dorrans’ move to Rangers and the lack of success it brought. That frustration may perhaps only increase if a move to Fratton Park results in McCrorie featuring more regularly at right-back so Jackett is able to get both men into the team.
