The former Rangers midfielder left Ibrox at the end of the summer transfer window.

Dorrans’ contract at the Gers was mutually terminated on deadline day, allowing him the opportunity to sign for a new club outside of the transfer window.
Subsequently ending up at Scottish Championship promotion hopefuls Dundee, the former Scotland international is hoping to get plenty of football under his belt and help inspire the Dees to a top-flight return.
He made his debut at the weekend, coming off the bench in a 1-0 defeat away to Greenock Morton.
Despite the difficult start he was delighted to get back to playing.
His last competitive match came way back in September of 2018, missing much of last season at Rangers because of a knee injury.
As quoted by The Scottish Sun, he said of his Ibrox exit: “It was tough but I had to get out and play football. I’m 32 and I’ve got ambitions to play as high as possible. It was never easy to leave but it was the right decision.
“As much as it was a tough decision to leave Rangers, it wasn’t really, because I want to be back playing football and enjoying football. I’ve missed a lot of games through injuries and missed the buzz of playing on a Saturday.”
Asked if he spoke with Gerrard about his departure, Dorrans replied to the paper with a simple: “No.”
Will Dorrans be missed at Ibrox?
Once upon a time Dorrans looked like he would be a shrewd acquisition at Rangers but injuries prevented real progress both under Pedro Caixinha and Gerrard.
In total he made just 23 appearances for the club.
Even if he’d remained fit though he’d have found it difficult to play regularly in Gerrard’s starting eleven given the way the manager has strengthened his central midfield options since arriving.

The Gers boss clearly felt that the side needed improvement over options like Dorrans. His exit likely would have come this summer regardless.
With experienced pros like Steven Davis currently dominating the middle of the park at Ibrox, it’s hard to see where the former West Brom man would have fit in.
A drop down in divisions gives him a real opportunity to reinvigorate the closing stages of his career. At 32, there’s still a bit of time to make it back to the Scottish top-flight.
