Graeme Souness has predicted that Liverpool will edge out Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday evening.
It’s been quite a few years since this fixture has been a top-of-the-table Premier League clash and despite being regining champions, the Red Devils are certainly the form horses.
Liverpool, who sit three points behind Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side at the summit, have taken only two points from the nine on offer since thumping Crystal Palace 7-0 just before Christmas.
Their last Premier League game was a 1-0 defeat away to Southampton.
But former Liverpool man Souness believes that his old side will have too much for United – and thinks goalkeeper Alisson might be the star of the show for the hosts this weekend.
He told Sky Sports’ Pitch to Post podcast: “It’s a difficult one to call, but I have to believe Liverpool will turn up on the day, Alisson will have a very good day, the back four will hold tight, and Liverpool will just have too much for them on the day.”
Alisson, a £66 million signing by Liverpool in 2018, is arguably the division’s finest goalkeeper.
And with Klopp missing two of his best centre-backs – Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez – the Brazilian stopper might have to be at his very best.
