Liverpool signed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal in the summer transfer window and did not sell Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.

According to The Independent, Spanish and European giants Barcelona made several bids in excess of £100 million in order to secure the services of Coutinho from Liverpool.
The Brazil international attacking midfielder also put in a transfer request at Anfield, as reported by BBC Sport, but the Reds refused to sell and the 25-year-old, who can also operate as a winger, will remain at the club for now.

Liverpool legend Souness has suggested that the Merseyside outfit should have sold Coutinho for an offer of over £100m.
“I would have accepted an offer in excess of £100m for him,” Souness wrote in The Times. “I know Paris Saint-Germain have paid £198m for Neymar and another £166m for Kylian Mbappe from Monaco, for his potential as an 18-year-old, but I would argue that for that sort of money they have to be game- changers on a regular basis. I would have taken Barcelona’s offer.”

Another transfer mistake that Liverpool made in the summer transfer window, according to Souness, was paying too much for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Oxlade-Chamberlain moved to Liverpool from Premier League rivals Arsenal on transfer deadline day.
According to BBC Sport, the Reds had to pay the Gunners a transfer fee of £35 million in order to secure the services of the 24-year-old England international, who can operate as a winger or as a central midfielder.
“The initial £35m that Liverpool have paid for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a very high figure for a player coming to the end of his contract at Arsenal,” Souness wrote in The Times.
