Tottenham Hotspur have not yet won a trophy under Mauricio Pochettino.
Graeme Souness has told Omnisport, via Goal.com, that Mauricio Pochettino could be axed by Tottenham Hotspur within two years unless he delivers trophies.
Pochettino could move within 90 minutes of a first trophy as Tottenham manager tomorrow if the Lilywhites beat Manchester United in an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
The Argentine took charge of Spurs in 2014 and has undoubtedly taken them to the next level but the lack of silverware is swiftly becoming a concern.
The 46-year-old took Tottenham to a League Cup final in 2015, only to be beaten by Chelsea, and the North Londoners have mounted a couple of Premier League title challenges during his tenure.
It has been over 10 years since they last won a trophy – a League Cup win in 2008, under Juande Ramos – and Sky Sports pundit Souness suggests that getting rid of Pochettino is a possibility unless his teams begin delivering all-important silverware.
He told Omnisport, via Goal.com, when asked about what could happen if Spurs’ drought is prolonged: “There’ll be changes.
“Harry Kane will leave. Maybe some others. Maybe the manager will get the sack. That’s all two years from now.
“Pochettino is someone viewed as having done good job at Tottenham for now but ultimately will be judged on what he wins and doesn’t win.”
