Everton boss Marco Silva has come under pressure after his side were beaten at Goodison Park again yesterday.

Graeme Souness has suggested to Sky Sports, during their coverage of Everton’s latest match, that Marco Silva is playing Richarlison in the wrong position.

Everton were beaten at home by Leicester City yesterday, with Richarlison failing to make much of an impact in front of the Goodison Park crowd.

The Brazilian youngster just couldn’t hurt the Leicester defence, after being stationed out on the left-wing by Silva.

And Souness has suggested that he prefers to see Richarlison in a more central role at Everton.

“I’m not sure about Richarlison. Is that his best position,” Souness questioned. “I liked him when he was at Watford and he’s started well at Everton. Would that be his preferred position being on the left and cutting in? I think he’s a handful if you get the service to him, but I don’t think you get the best out of him playing there.”

Most of Richarlison’s experience has come from playing on the left-flank, but he has led the line at times for Everton this term.

The Toffees’ summer signing performed well when picked to start up-front, and it could be that Silva uses him as a number nine again soon.

Everton have opted to go with Dominic Calvert-Lewin as their main striker in recent weeks, but he has struggled for goals.

Everton’s defeat to Leicester has seen them sink to 10th place in the Premier League table.
