Graeme Souness has revealed that his fellow Sky Sports colleague Roy Keane is champing at the bit to return to management, amid speculation of getting the Celtic job.

The legendary Irishman is among those in the frame to become Neil Lennon’s long-term successor at Celtic.

According to The Sun in March, Keane would definitely be in favour of getting the job at Parkhead.

The 49-year-old has been out of management since 2011 following a stint at Ipswich Town and although he has been back in football in that time, it has been mainly as Martin O’Neill’s number two at the Republic of Ireland and Nottingham Forest.

Outside of coaching, Keane is a regular on Sky Sports with Souness.

And the Rangers legend has told The Scottish Sun he knows that his fellow pundit is ‘very keen’ on getting back into the game.

He said: “Roy is desperate to get back. He’s a football man and I have spoken with him about returning to management. He is very keen to do that.”

The Scottish Sun reported earlier in April that Eddie Howe was set to become Lennon’s replacement at Lennoxtown, but Sky Sports have since claimed that the former Bournemouth boss is not close to accepting any role and that he wouldn’t be returning to football until this summer at the earliest.
