Southampton signed Virgil van Dijk from Celtic in the summer of 2015.

Van Dijk moved to Premier League club Southampton from Scottish side Celtic in the summer of 2015.
As reported by BBC Sport, the Saints had to pay the Hoops a transfer fee of £13 million in order to secure the services of the Netherlands international defender.
Former Rangers and Liverpool midfielder Souness has admitted that he has doubts over the central defender when he made the switch from Celtic to Southampton.

“I thought when he came down to England from Celtic he would find it difficult because he always appeared to be in his armchair in Scotland, but he’s someone who always seems to have time,” Souness wrote about Van Dijk in The Times.
“He’s a good reader of the game, has the ability on the ball to not give it away and is dominant in the air.”

Van Dijk has developed into one of the best central defenders in the Premier League, and given that the defender is 26 years old at the moment, there is still time for him to improve.
The Dutchman is playing well at the moment, and it will be interesting to see for how long the Saints are able to keep hold of him.
