Ahead of the match, Souness – who failed to make an impact at Tottenham before becoming a legendary midfielder at Liverpool and now works as a pundit for Sky Sports – has spoken highly of the 27-year-old.
Souness wrote about Eriksen in The Times: “in Christian Eriksen, Liverpool come up against a player today who would be perfect for them and improve any team anywhere at the moment.
“Not only does the 27-year-old play the clever passes that strikers thrive on, but he puts a shift in for the team, too, as all top players do.”

World-class footballer
Eriksen has been superb for Tottenham so far this season, scoring five goals and providing nine assists in the Premier League, according to WhoScored.
The Dane has also scored two goals and provided two assists in six Champions League starts for Spurs so far this campaign, according to WhoScored.
The 27-year-old is a world-class footballer, and Liverpool will have to take special care of him today.
