Liverpool signed Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in the January transfer window.

Van Dijk has moved to Liverpool from Premier League rivals Southampton in the January transfer window for a fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £75 million.
Former Liverpool midfielder Souness, who is a legend at Anfield, has suggested that City should have signed the Netherlands international central defender.

Souness wrote in The Times: “Manchester City should have gone for Van Dijk. There’s not many like him out there.
“Whoever got him was going to be improving their squad. I thought one of the big two in Spain might have come in for him.”

Van Dijk is a very good central defender who played well on his debut for Liverpool in the FA Cup third-round tie against Everton at Anfield.
The former Celtic centre-back has proved himself in the Premier League and was a success during his time at Southampton.
True, the 26-year-old’s performances for the Saints in the first half of the season were not great, but the former Groningen man is an upgrade on the defenders that Liverpool have.
Liverpool will return to action on Sunday evening when they take on City at Anfield in the Premier League.
