Mark Warburton’s Glasgow Rangers will face Old Firm rivals Celtic at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership later this month.

Graeme Souness has suggested to The Glasgow Evening Times that Rangers will lose to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership later this month.

Rangers will take on Old Firm rivals Celtic at Ibrox in the league on New Year’s Eve.

The Gers have faced Brendan Rodgers’s side twice already this season, and on both occasions they have lost.

Mark Warburton’s side went down 5-1 to Celtic away from home at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership in September.

Then in October, the Bhoys got the better of Rangers 1-0 in the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup.

Former Rangers midfielder and manager Souness has suggested that Warburton’s side are unlikely to win against Celtic this month.

“I don’t think there’s any surprises,” Souness told The Glasgow Evening Times. “Celtic bopping that at Parkhead early in the season, predictable. Rangers narrowly losing to them in the cup, predictable.

“Hopefully they can go one better on Hogmanay. Is it impossible? No. Is it likely? No. That’s reality for Rangers and their supporters. I don’t think the manager has been given any chance.”

Celtic are going strong in the Scottish Premiership at the moment and are firm favourites to clinch the league title.

Rangers are fighting for the second spot, but their chances of picking up at least a point against the Bhoys should not be written off.

An early goal for Warburton’s side is certainly going to boost their chances, and so will the fact that they will have the home fans behind them.
