Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Hull City, Swansea City, Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Watford are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship.

Former Liverpool and Rangers midfielder Graeme Souness has predicted in The Times that Sunderland will get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

Sunderland are at the foot of the Premier League table at the moment with 20 points from 28 matches.

The Black Cats are two points behind Middlesbrough in 19th and four behind third-from-bottom Hull City.

Swansea City are three points above the relegation zone, while Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Watford are four, six and seven points respectively clear of Hull.

Former Liverpool and Rangers manager Souness has picked his Premier League bottom three.

“For relegation, I would say Sunderland definitely, Middlesbrough probably and Hull or Swansea,” Souness wrote in The Times.

“Crystal Palace should get out of it because Sam Allardyce has taken over the best group of players he has had at any club since Bolton. For all the relegation battles he has been involved in, this is the best group he’s inherited.”

“Sunderland look gone this time,” added Souness. “When David Moyes did not get any money to spend at the start of the season or at Christmas the writing was on the wall for them.

“I hope Middlesbrough prove me wrong and survive, but I fear they may have made their managerial change too late.”

Sunderland and Middlesbrough do appear doomed for relegation, as things are going very badly for them at the moment.

Hull and Swansea should be fearful for their top-flight status, and so should Palace despite Sam Allardyce being in charge.

Despite Leicester’s recent good form, they are not out of danger yet, and Watford are only a couple of defeats away from getting dragged in.
