England international midfielder Adam Lallana has been playing well for Liverpool this season.

Former Liverpool and Rangers midfielder Graeme Souness has suggested in The Times that Adam Lallana should score more goals.

Lallana is one of the better players in the current Liverpool squad and has been in good form so far this season.

The England international attacking midfielder has established himself as a key player in Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The 28-year-old, who can also operate as a winger, has been advised by Souness to start scoring goals.

Adam Lallana scores the third goal for Liverpool

“Lallana is 28 and has to get in double figures as a goalscorer each season to become a complete attacking midfielder,” Souness wrote in The Times.

“Some get away with murder now, saying, ‘I’m an attacking midfielder but not a goalscorer’. That’s not right.

“You have to be scoring and supplying goals in the final third, playing the killer passes, as Philippe Coutinho and Lallana are doing now at Liverpool.”

As the above Opta Stats table shows, Lallana does not score as many goals as he should from an attacking midfield position.

Souness’s advice is a strong one, but it is certainly valid and something that the Liverpool attacking midfielder should look into.

The Reds are playing well at the moment and are in the running for the Premier League title this season.

The Merseyside outfit are currently at the top of the league table with 26 points from 11 matches, just a point above second-placed Chelsea.

Liverpool will return to action this coming Saturday when they take on Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League.
