Tottenham Hotspur are dark horses in the race for the Premier League title.
Graeme Souness suggested that Tottenham are far from finished in the race for the Premier League title this season, when speaking during Sky Sports’ broadcast of live Premier League games yesterday.
Spurs currently sit six points adrift of league leaders Liverpool having played a game more than Jürgen Klopp’s side, but many fans and pundits alike have already ruled out Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the title race, following Saturday’s defeat to Wolves.
Tottenham bounced back in style against Cardiff last night, however, and should they maintain that kind of form between now and the end of the season, there is no reason why they cannot challenge Liverpool and Manchester City.
That’s the view of Souness anyway.
The Scot explained how Spurs are a match for any side on their day, when speaking during Sky Sports’ broadcast of the north London outfit’s clash with Cardiff last night:
“I come back to it, when we saw them play against Everton, eight, nine days ago, they weren’t good, they weren’t very good, they were absolutely brilliant, in all aspects of their game and if they come anywhere near that today, and between now and the end of the season they’ll be back challenging again. One bad result and people are putting a line through their name.”
Tottenham are in cup action over the next week, with clashes against Tranmere Rovers and Chelsea to come, before they return to the Premier League when they welcome Manchester United to Wembley in what will be a hugely important game for both clubs.
Spurs showed their fragility against Wolves on Saturday, but they are by no means out of the title race just yet.
They do need to find more consistency between now and the end of the season, however, if they are to top the lot come May.
