Graeme Souness has his say on Arsenal centre-forward Danny Welbeck and Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli.

Danny Welbeck does not have as much as talent as Mario Balotelli does, but he puts more effort on the pitch.

That’s the opinion of Liverpool legend Graeme Souness, who believes that managers would want to have the Arsenal forward in their team rather than the Liverpool striker.

‘Danny Welbeck doesn’t possess anything like the natural ability that Mario Balotelli possesses’, the 61-year-old told Sky Sports. ‘But you are going to take Danny Welbeck seven days a week simply because of his enthusiasm. He is infectious; he makes people try harder’.

Souness made the comments following Arsenal and Liverpool’s Champions League matches on Wednesday.

While the Gunners eased to a 4-1 victory over Galatasaray in Group D at the Emirates Stadium in London, the Reds suffered a 1-0 defeat to FC Basel in Group B in Switzerland.

Welbeck scored a sensational hat-trick for Arsenal and gave his best display since making a £16 million move from Manchester United on transfer deadline day. Meanwhile, Balotelli was once again frustrating for Liverpool as he failed to score.
