Rangers saw Graeme Shinnie impress against them on Sunday.

Rangers earned a Scottish Cup replay with Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon, playing out a 1-1 with the Dons at Pittodrie.
Sam Cosgrove’s early penalty had put Aberdeen in front, but Joe Worrall smashed home from a Ryan Kent corner to earn Rangers a draw.
One of the key players in the game was Aberdeen captain Graeme Shinnie, who excelled in midfield against former Dons teammate Ryan Jack.
Aberdeen are currently fretting about Shinnie’s future, as the 27-year-old is out of contract this summer, and can be signed for free come the end of the season.
Shinnie is being linked with a host of clubs, but just two years after controversially landing Jack on a free from Aberdeen, should Rangers consider a similar move for Shinnie?
The positives a move are pretty clear; any time you can land a top player in your league for free, it’s smart business. It must also be said that weakening Aberdeen again by signing their skipper would be a smart move from Rangers.
Shinnie’s versatility to play at left back and in central midfield could also be appealing, giving Steven Gerrard another option in a couple of positions, which is ideal from a free transfer.

Some may though argue that Rangers already have a host of defensive-minded midfielders. Ross McCrorie, Matt Polster and loaned-out Jordan Rossiter, whilst Andy Halliday can play in the same positions as Shinnie.
Lassana Coulibaly will move on, whilst the futures of Graham Dorrans and Jason Holt are unclear heading into the summer, meaning Gerrard may well want more bodies in his engine room.
Rangers don’t necessarily need to sign Shinnie, but in terms of signing a good player from a rival for free, it may well be smart business, stoking the rivalry between the two sides once again.
