Graeme Murty’s Glasgow Rangers have brought Russell Martin to Ibrox on loan from Norwich City.

The Gers have signed Martin from Norwich City in the Championship in England in the January transfer window.
The 32-year-old defender has moved to Rangers on loan from the Canaries until the end of the season.
The Scotland international is a hugely experienced and mature footballer, having turned out for the likes of Peterborough United and Norwich in his career so far.
Rangers manager Murty has suggested that he could hand the captain’s armband to Martin, and has also spoken highly of the 32-year-old.

Asked about the possibility of Martin becoming the Rangers captain, Murty told The Scottish Sun: “It would be difficult with a new guy coming into the club. I have no doubt he has captain potential because of his leadership.
“But I have to think about it more deeply. He’s a manager in the making, I would suggest, in terms of his knowledge and the way he conducts himself and his manner around the place.
“So if we can get him to impact on our players then he will be a really good signing. I’m confident the guy that he is, he will make us better.”

Martin is a very experienced footballer, and even if he is not officially made the captain, it is clear that he will be a leader on the pitch whenever he is on.
Rangers have made some shrewd signings in the January transfer window so far, and could end up clinching the runners-up spot in the Scottish Premiership table this season.
