Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers got their mid-season break off to a winning start in Florida.
Graeme Murty has told Rangers TV that he was pleased with Andy Halliday’s comeback performance in the 1-0 win over Atletico Mineiro on Friday morning.
Rangers kicked off their mid-season break in Florida with a narrow victory over the Brazilian outfit.
Josh Windass’s second-half goal was enough for Murty’s side in a game which saw the Gers manager name two different XIs in each half.
There were a number of familiar faces on the field as Halliday and Michael O’Halloran made their first appearances for the Light Blues since returning from loan spells, while new signings Sean Goss and Jamie Murphy also got a run out in the Sunshine State.
Halliday, a boyhood fan of the Ibrox club, will be determined to make up for lost time after Murty’s predecessor Pedro Caixinha shipped him off to Azerbaijan on loan during the first half of the campaign.
And Murty said afterwards that he was pleased with the midfielder’s passionate comeback display.
He told Rangers TV: “He is what he is. He’s wholehearted and knows what it means to play for this club.
“I think you can just see that when he turns out for a Rangers team that he wears his heart on his sleeve and that’s good for us.”
