Glasgow Rangers’ four-match winning run was brought to an end at Ibrox on Saturday.

The Gers had put together their best run of the season leading into the clash with Tommy Wright’s side, putting a run of four wins in a row together for the first time since December 2016 to lift them up to second in the Scottish Premiership.

And it appeared that they were well on their way to making it five in a row when Alfredo Morelos put them ahead inside five minutes. But St Johnstone had other ideas, scoring three times to claim an impressive 3-1 win. However, Murty insisted that his post-match message to the players did not see him lose his temper.
“I actually went in and said to them, ‘I’m not going to scream and shout’, because they’ve given me a great deal over the last four games, and ultimately, we’re in it together,” he told Rangers’ official YouTube channel. “But they know that that wasn’t good enough and we have to go away and look at why.”

While Rangers have not been at their best even when they have been winning, they have shown a lot of the attributes that seemed to be absent during the latter stages of Pedro Caixinha’s tenure.
Murty’s men have already come from behind on more occasions than they had done during Caixinha’s tenure, and the interim boss will surely be urging the Gers to show that fighting spirit when they face Kilmarnock next Saturday to get themselves back on track in the top flight.
