Graeme Murty shares his message to Rangers players in wake of Dundee defeat

Glasgow Rangers return to Ibrox on Wednesday looking to get back to winning ways after two Scottish Premiership defeats.

Graeme Murty has told Rangers’ official YouTube channel that his message to the Rangers squad in the wake of their defeat to Dundee and leading up to the Aberdeen clash that it is now time for the players to take their performance in training out onto the pitch.

The Gers go into Wednesday’s Scottish Premiership game with the Dons looking to get back to winning ways after suffering two consecutive defeats – with Hamilton beating Murty’s men before the loss at Dens Park.

And Murty has explained what his message to the squad has been following the 2-1 defeat to Neil McCann’s men as they prepare to take on Aberdeen on Wednesday.

“The players were frustrated. The players were angry, mainly because the way we performed wasn’t indicative of how we train,” he told the club’s official YouTube channel.

“I said to the players, ‘it’s about performance now, a week’s training means nothing’. They need to present themselves how they want to be perceived. And we want to be perceived as a proper Rangers team that embodies the values of this football club – and we need to make sure that on Wednesday night we go and do that.”

There are arguably few fixtures which should inspire the reaction amongst the players that Murty is looking for more than a home game against Aberdeen, given the rivalry between the two.

Should the players play as they did on Friday, Aberdeen should have little problem extending the gap between the two teams in the top flight so Rangers will know that they cannot allow the slightest bit of complacency to creep into their game if they want to get their season back on track.

And if the Gers do manage to follow Murty’s advice and do manage to pick up three points, you would imagine that much of the disappointment that has crept in over the last two games will disappear for the time-being.
