Glasgow Rangers winger Daniel Candeias scored for Graeme Murty’s side against Dundee at Ibrox.
The Gers returned to winning ways on Saturday afternoon, as they hammered Dundee 4-0 at home in the Scottish Premiership.
Candeias, who has been on the books of Rangers since the summer of 2017 when he joined from Benfica for a transfer fee reported by The Herald to be worth £700,000, was among the goalscorers,
Rangers boss Murty has revealed what he told the 30-year-old Portuguese winger at half time about his game.
Murty told Rangers’ official website: “I actually said to Daniel at half-time that when the ball is on the opposite side he is spending too much time lingering out on the wing.
“When the ball goes into the final third on the left-hand side when Jamie Murphy or Declan John has got it, he has to get into the middle of the goal; he has to get in between the sticks.
“There was one on the first half which came off the post and he would have had a tap-in and it showed in the second half.
“He went and got a goal and he gave me a cheeky grin so I’ll take credit for that one!”
Good coaching
Murty is a very good coach, and his comments about Candeias suggest just how good he is at reading the game.
Although the 43-year-old is quite young in terms of his managerial career, he has shown himself to be very capable, and it would not be a bad idea for the Gers to keep him in the role for next season.
Meanwhile, Candeias has scored four goals and provided seven assists in 31 Scottish Premiership appearances for Rangers so far this season, according to Transfermarkt.com.
