Glasgow Rangers’ under-20 side got their Glasgow Cup campaign off to a flyer, with the Ibrox outfit running out 6-1 winners.

Rangers manager Graeme Murty looks on during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Kilmarnock at Ibrox Stadium on March 17, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Graeme Murty has admitted to Rangers’ official website that he was critical of Dapo Mebude at half-time of the Gers’ Glasgow Cup win on Monday, as he wanted the young forward to tidy his game up.

The Light Blues got their campaign off to a flyer as they stormed to a 6-1 win. What made the victory all the more impressive was that Rangers actually fell behind during the game.

It was Mebude who bagged the equaliser. But, with the scores at 1-1 heading into the break, Murty admitted that he did not want the young forward to be too pleased with his performance ahead of the second-half.

“I had a few choice words with Dapo at half-time as in the final third I thought he was particularly destructive and hard to deal with, but I thought the rest of his game needed tidying up, and he did that in the second half,” he told Rangers’ official website.

“So fair play to him for reacting in the right way.”

As Murty suggests, the 17-year-old did appear to steps things up in the second-half. He scored another and set up Rangers’ fifth, which was scored by Andy Dallas.

Mebude is certainly establishing himself as one to keep an eye on. He is scoring goals and providing excitement with moments of brilliance. His ability to play across anywhere across the front line is another reason to watch his progress closely.

And with Murty seemingly doing a good job of getting the best out of him, perhaps it may not be too long before the teenager is starting to emerge onto Steven Gerrard’s radar.
