Rangers Reserves hammered Kilmarnock 5-0 earlier today.
Rangers reserves boss Graeme Murty has told the club’s official website that he thinks ‘you can see the quality’ that left back Borna Barisic has after his display today.
The Gers first-team squad beat Hearts 2-1 on Sunday, and their reserves were in action on Monday afternoon as they took on Kilmarnock.
Andy Dallas snatched the headlines with a superb hat-trick, whilst Dapo Mebude and Jordan Houston also got themselves on the scoresheet in a thumping 5-0 win.
The biggest thing for Rangers was that the game enabled some first-team players to feature after injuries and non-selection, with Nikola Katic, Lee Wallace and Barisic all inaction.
Barisic’s return will be a huge boost for Steven Gerrard, as the left back has been out for over two months now and is needed back to finally give Gerrard a natural left back again.
The Croatian played 45 minutes for the reserves on Monday, and reserves boss Murty has raved about the defender in his post-match comments from today’s game.
Murty felt that Barisic played well in his 45 minutes, claiming that it’s clear to see his quality, praising him for a wonderful left foot and the range he can give, raving about the man Gerrard spent £2million on this past summer.
“Borna needed to get back and he gave us 45 minutes – and you can see the quality the guy has got,” said Murty. “He has a wonderful left foot and good range, and the other guys came in similarly and got out of the game what they needed which was good for us and it is good for my players to go and see that level of player, that level of approach and that level of professionalism as they all want to be there,” he added.
