Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers picked up a 2-0 win over Partick Thistle last night.

Graeme Murty has told the Scottish Sun that James Tavernier’s goal for Glasgow Rangers last night was special to see.

Tavernier continued his fine scoring form for Rangers this season, in their 2-0 victory over Partick Thistle.

The right-back took aim from 25 yards out, and curled the ball into the top corner of the net, to secure the three points from Rangers.

And Murty admits that Tavernier always shows how good a finisher he is in training for the Ibrox side.

“That’s six for him this season. He is a great modern attacking full-back,” Murty enthused.

“He has terrific quality in the final third and is an outstanding finisher.

“We see that in training all the time and it was a bit special to see that tonight.”

Tavernier actually apologised to his Rangers teammates at the weekend, as he gave away a cheap penalty in a 2-1 defeat to Hibernian.

The former Rotherham and Wigan man’s goal last night went a long way to making up for that error though, and all will surely be forgiven now.

Tavernier’s brilliant strike means he has now scored six and created eight goals this season, and he remains one of Rangers’ brightest attacking threats.

Rangers’ victory over Partick has ensured that they have remained within touching distance of second placed Aberdeen.
