Graeme Murty pleased with Jamie Murphy goal for Rangers

Graeme Murty’s Glasgow Rangers won against Heart of Midlothian at Ibrox, with Brighton and Hove Albion-owned winger Jamie Murphy scoring once.

Rangers manager Graeme Murty has suggested to the club’s official website that he is pleased to see Brighton and Hove Albion-owned winger Jamie Murphy adding goals to his game.

Murphy, who joined Rangers on loan from Brighton in the Premier League in England in the January transfer window, scored for the Gers in their 2-0 victory over Heart of Midlothian at Ibrox at the weekend.

The 28-year-old Scotsman found the net in the 41st minute and had a very good game overall on Saturday, and it can only be good for Rangers if he scores a few more goals between now and the end of the season.

Rangers manager Murty was pleased with the display produced by the former Motherwell and Sheffield United winger.

Murty told Rangers’ official website about Murphy: “It is good to see he is adding goals to his game, I thought he was a threat at most periods in the game and he understands his role coming in off the side really well.”

Title challenge on?

The win against Hearts was richly deserved for Rangers, and perhaps there is a chance that they could still challenge Old Firm rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title.

After all, Brendan Rodgers’s side are nine points clear of the Gers, who can close trim that gap if they won against the Hoops at Ibrox in the Old Firm derby next month.
